New details emerge on why Kapa Cat quit Karma Ivan management

Controversial singer Kapa Cat has chosen to part ways with Karma Ivan's management, a mere two months after officially joining the label.

While the singer hasn't publicly disclosed the exact motivations for her departure, additional information suggests that her decision was influenced by several factors related to Karma's management approach.

Reportedly, Kapa Cat felt that Karma Ivan didn't allocate sufficient time and attention to her career, and she was reluctant to invest in her artistic journey.

When Karma Ivan and Arafat Baddest collaborated to establish the Untouchable Music management record label, they enlisted Nince Henry as a musician under their management. Arafat identified Kapa Cat as a potential addition to the label.

However, Karma Ivan, despite his significant investments in the label, displayed hesitation in allocating financial resources to support Kapa Cat's career.

During her time with the management, Kapa Cat found herself facing financial struggles, even grappling with issues such as affording her rent. This situation persisted for two months until her former manager, who coincidentally serves as the head of TAF Music Uganda, intervened and took over her management.

Rumors suggest that Karma Ivan not only increased Kapa Cat's booking fee but also restricted her from participating in various events, causing financial strain and contributing to tensions between the two parties. These tensions eventually culminated in their decision to part ways.

Jamie Foxx Apologizes To The Jewish Community For Social Media Post

Jamie Foxx is attempting to clear up a misunderstanding stemming from a since-deleted social media post that was criticized by some as antisemitic.

In a text post shared to his Instagram on Saturday, the Oscar-winning actor wrote, “I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post. I now know my choice of words have caused offense and I’m sorry. That was never my intent.”

Foxx’s message was in reference to a prior post, no longer found on his feed, which read, “They killed this dude named Jesus… What do you think they’ll do to you???!” He ended the post with the hashtags #fakefriends and #fakelove.

Critics of the post interpreted “they” as the Jewish people, and historically antisemitism has been linked to the belief Jews are responsible for the death of Jesus.

In his message on Saturday, he continued, “To clarify, I was betrayed by a fake friend and that’s what I meant with ‘they’ not anything more. I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended.”

The posts come after Foxx experienced a still undisclosed “medical complication” that landed him in the hospital this past spring.

Earlier this week, the “Ray” star credited his sister Deidra Dixon with saving his life as part of a birthday tribute video he filmed for her.

Navio, who grew up in an uptown environment, had never truly considered the realities of Ghetto life until his encounter with Bobi Wine, the Ghetto President at that time.

Their collaboration resulted in the creation of two immensely popular songs, "Badman from Kamwokya" and "Number 1." These tracks resonated deeply with people all across the country, particularly in the Ghetto, as they carried messages of inspiration and empowerment for the youth, urging them to strive for a better life.

Navio reflects on this transformation, stating, "I have undergone a profound change since then, becoming more connected to the Ghetto. The impact of those songs is undeniable; their presence is felt everywhere."

Interestingly, Navio points out that "Badman from Kamwokya" holds the record as the most frequently played song in Uganda, a testament to its enduring popularity.

These revelations came to light during an interview with a local radio station, where Navio discussed his forthcoming concert scheduled for September 2nd of this year. The event will be held at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel, and Navio's connection with the Ghetto, catalyzed by his collaboration with Bobi Wine, promises to infuse the concert with a unique and powerful energy.

New shocking details have emerged regarding the abrupt cancellation of Alien Skin's Nkwacho festival. The events promoter, Abitex, had been tirelessly promoting the festival for over two months, with plans for it to take place on the 27th of this month at Bulooba Forest Park.

However, just last week, Alien Skin stunned everyone by revealing that the festival would not proceed as originally announced. In a surprising turn of events, Alien attributed the festival's cancellation to Abitex's self-serving motives, accusing him of prioritizing personal enrichment over the well-being of the artists involved.

During an interview with a local YouTuber, Alien Skin expressed his frustration, stating,

"Nkwacho festival has been halted temporarily because I am unwilling to collaborate with promoters who are solely driven by monetary gain. These promoters are not concerned about my welfare; they simply want to exploit my talents for their own benefit."

Recent revelations indicate that Abitex had offered Alien Skin a sum of 20 million Ugandan shillings for his participation, yet the Sitya danger artist demanded a higher compensation.

The ongoing disputes between Abitex and Alien Skin created an opportunity for alternative promoters to step in and negotiate with the artist for the same event. These other promoters pledged to offer substantially higher payments, which caught Alien's attention and led him to put the festival on hold for the time being.

A source close to the situation disclosed,

"Initially, Alien received around 15 million for the Freedom Show Concert, and Abitex had raised the offer to 20 million this time. However, Alien remained unsatisfied."

The same source mentioned that the other promoters are open to collaborating with Alien Skin to jointly organize the event and share the resulting profits.

Singer Alien Skin, once a beloved figure, is now facing a storm of backlash from disgruntled fans who have quickly turned against him.

For a long time, Alien Skin basked in the spotlight as Uganda's most popular and viral musician. His journey took an unexpected turn when Pallaso slapped him in public, prompting fans to rally around Alien Skin out of sympathy.

Capitalizing on this wave of goodwill, Alien Skin miraculously organized a concert in just eight days. The response was overwhelming; the venue was packed to capacity.

However, Alien Skin's gratitude seemed to wane. His social media presence was marred by disrespectful posts aimed at his loyal fans and even at a higher power. In a bizarre twist, he publicly credited Satan as the source of his success, undermining the fervent devotion of his fans.

The most recent chapter in this turbulent saga unfolded when Alien Skin made derogatory comments about Bobi Wine. Fans were quick to condemn him, reducing his standing to insignificance.

In the midst of the uproar, allegations have emerged linking Alien Skin to government sponsorship and an ostentatious Range Rover purportedly gifted by Gen Muhoozi. While these claims are unsubstantiated, they have sparked a relentless onslaught on social media. Fans, their loyalty eroded, are vociferously lambasting him, decrying his perceived loss of all support.

It remains to be seen whether Alien Skin can weather this storm and regain the trust of his fans. However, one thing is for sure: the music industry in Uganda is never dull.

Government is investigating a land dispute over the ownership of 100 acres of land in Namasale Town Council, Amolatar District that escalated into riots in July that resulted in the destruction of property.

The dispute has pitted the residents of Bungu Cell against a one Juliet Katushabe, who claims the land belonged to her deceased father, Kaweki Nafutali.

Following the riots, the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Raphael Magyezi, met with the area leaders and their counterparts from Nakasongola District with the aim of finishing a lasting solution to the impasse.

During a media briefing at Parliament, on Friday, 08 August 2023, the minister accompanied by area MPs and district officials, said Katushabe’s claim on the land was not the first.

“Reports indicate that this is not her first time to make claims in the area and get compensation. It is possible that there may be other people behind this. If her claims are genuine, then government has a responsibility to secure them but if they are false, then action will be taken,” said Magyezi.

Magyezi added that perpetrators of crimes committed during the riots will be investigated and action taken.

The concerns of the effects of the demonstration were brought before the Prime Minister, Robinah Nabanjja, by Nakasongola County MP, Hon. Noah Mutebi, which prompted a meeting to be convened to solve the impasse.

On Sunday, 16 July 2023, rioters in Namasale demonstrated in light of information that Katushabe planned to evict residents.

According to Mutebi, the demonstration which affected some residents of Zengebe Landing Site in Nakasongola District, led to looting and destruction of property, and injury of locals in the area.

“Vehicles were vandalised, fish was confiscated and houses were burnt. We urge the district security committees in Amolatar and Nakasongola to compile a list of the affected persons so that we manage this further,” he said.

Hon. Moses Okot (FDC, Kioga County) said a letter to hold a meeting with Namasale residents, written by Katushabe's lawyers, Eyotre & Company Advocates, was not done in consultation with the district leadership.

“The actions by Katushabe are a manifestation of land grabbing cartels. Preliminary reports indicate that Eyotre does not exist and thus punitive measures should be taken by the Law Council and the Uganda Law society,” said Okot.

Hon. James Olobo (NRM, Kioga North County) called on residents of Amolatar district to be cautious about their land.

“I warn our people to be careful with their land. There are people who are trying to grab land in the interest of compensation from government because of upcoming projects,” Olobo warned.

Geoffrey Ocen, the Chairperson, Amolatar District Local Government, pinned the Officer in Charge (OC) of Namasale Police Station for linking Katushabe to the land in question.

“He is the one who distributed the letter from Katushabe and he misguided the district security committee. We resolved that the OC be arrested and prosecuted accordingly,” Ocen added.

Nakasongola District Woman Representative, Hon. Victorious Zawedde, noted that there was a planned demonstration by residents of Zengebe Landing Site, and called on locals to keep calm and await government's mediation.

“Nakasongola people are landless and have often urged government to avail land funds to enable them own land. I request government to develop strategic interventions to address this matter,” said Zawedde.

Hon. Benard Sekyanzi (NRM, Budyebo County) reiterated calls to residents of Nakasongola District to allow government to weigh in matters of land conflicts.

Deputy Speaker Tayebwa Defends Uganda National Musicians Federation

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has defended the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), which has been accused of financial impropriety and political bias.

The UNMF was formed in May 2023 by a group of top Ugandan musicians, including Eddy Kenzo, Sheebah Karungi, and Jose Chameleone. The federation's stated goal is to advocate for the rights of musicians and to promote the music industry in Uganda.

However, the UNMF has been criticized by some musicians and political analysts who allege that it is a front for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. They point to the fact that the UNMF's leadership is largely made up of NRM supporters, and that the federation has not been critical of the government.

In recent weeks, several musicians have left the UNMF, including Spice Diana, Moses Matovu, and Phina Masanyalaze. These musicians have not publicly explained why they left the federation, but some have hinted that they were unhappy with the federation's political leanings.

Tayebwa, who is a member of the NRM, has dismissed the allegations of financial impropriety and political bias against the UNMF. He said that the federation is committed to its stated goals of advocating for the rights of musicians and promoting the music industry in Uganda.

"This federation is not about money or politics. It is about the musicians and the music industry," Tayebwa said. "We are here to help the musicians, and we will not be distracted by petty allegations."

Despite Tayebwa's defense, the UNMF remains a controversial organization. It is unclear whether the federation will be able to unite the music industry or whether it will continue to be divided by political and ideological differences.
